The " What Kind of Camera Do You Use?" Post
I love reading
“What’s in Your Bag?”
blog posts.
It’s fascinating how photographers choose their gear. But EVERYONE will tell you that photography is not a cheap hobby/career.
For me, it’s been many years of research, experience, and investment to get to where I am now. I started with a little Canon t3i in college, shortly after adding a t5i for my second shooter. It was a great camera for a beginner and I learned so much with it. But after graduation I felt that to be taken seriously, I need equipment in my bag that could last me a long time and give me constant results every time I picked it up.
Cut to what my current gear looks like:
2x Canon R6- Big things come in small packages and this guy is NO exception. The newest member of my Canon family, I love what this camera can do.
Canon RF 70-200 2.8 - My baby.
Canon 24-70 2.8 RF- aka ‘Ol Reliable
Canon 50mm 1.2- My absolute go to lens for just about any portrait session
Canon 100mm 2.8 macro- This guy is still relatively new so I haven’t shot as much with him.I know what he is capable of though!!
Canon 20mm 2.8- This little wide angle is perfect for more dramatic shots and the occasional large bridal party/ family group shots.
Canon 70-200 2.8 IS III-Now my back up 70-200, this guy still gets the job done.
Westcott FJ400 lights with the X2M trigger- Having this light kit has changed my photography game big time. I feel more confident and in control of light having these by my side.
Expodisk- For a reliable white balance, love this thing!
Eneloop AA rechargeable batteries- The best rechargeable batteries I have been introduced to. They hold steady for a while.
Blackrapid curve (and double breathe) camera strap- Much comfier in my opinion than the strap that comes with the camera. I love how they allow the camera to hang at my hip vs around my neck.
Add a few snacks and a bottle of water, that is about it!
Oh! I forgot to mention my actual bag collection:
Think Tank Airport Security V3.0 camera bag- This is my BABY. Investing in a rolling bag for my gear was the best decision I have made. I love that I can fit everything I need (and more) in here. Plus, my 70-200 can fit standing up!
Kelly Moore Songbird Shoulder camera bag- I use this bag mainly when I’m traveling somewhere nice and want to be more discreet as a photographer. The fact it looks and functions like a purse as well as a camera bag sold me on it right away. There are also so many helpful pockets and zippers.
Lowepro Flipside 200 camera bag- My favorite for hiking and adventuring. It’s roomy enough for my body and 2 or so lenses, which is all I need when I’m out and about just for fun. Because it zips up against my back, there is extra security and the additional zipper pouch inside is perfect for my wallet.
