Something Old Brings Something New
As a photographer, what pushes you outside your comfort zone?
For me, it’s studio photography.
But as part of my new year new things vibe, I decided to challenge myself and actually rent a studio space for a few sessions. I discovered Something Old through a few photography pages I follow on social media. The exposed brick and dark hardwood floors were lovely. Also, the space has big bright windows that allow natural light to pour in. I couldn’t wait to do some shooting in there!!
Despite the natural light that flowed in, I found myself shooting at a pretty high ISO (800 at times). I decided to bring in my flashes to lower it back down to around the 400 range. I played around and was able to get my settings to a place I was happy with!
When you try something new, there is always a learning curve and room for improvement. When you try Something Old, there is a beautiful studio just waiting for your creative spin.
(And thank you to this sweet family for trusting me with your portraits!)
